A New Footprint in Seawater Desalination Area

Last year, SafBon Water participated in the bidding for a 50,000m3/day seawater desalination project in Kuryk village, Mangistau Region, Kazakhstan.

On March 13th, Alex Wang, CEO of SafBon Water, along with a technical team of process, electrical and civil engineering from SafBon, visited Aktau City, Kazakhstan, investigated the site of the project and carried out meetings with the local government and consulting company with consensus reached.

As the only company which passed the rigorous review of prequalification, SafBon was formally announced as the successful bidder for the project by the Mangistau Region Government on March 15th 2018. The main process is Dissolved Air Floatation + Nano-ceramic Flat Ultrafiltration Membrane + Two-stage Reverse Osmosis. The project will apply DAF from KWI Austria and CFM from ItN.

With the completion of this project, the current state of limited water supply will be greatly eased, and the economic development of the area and the surrounding towns and cities will be promoted.



WE ARE APPROACHING A NEW WORLD

On March 1st, the SafBon Chairman, Hilling Chang, visited Peru's capital city Lima for a four-days’ business trip with Alexander who is the international market manager of the SafBon. Two business visits have been made for Ministry Of Housing, Construction and Sanitation, and discussed water conservation planning and cooperation between the two countries over the next 3-5 year. At the same time, the group Chairman has close contacts with the leaders of the large state-owned Chinese state-owned enterprises and partners to develop new projects, such as water supply plants, desalination plants and sewage treatment plants and so on. In the initial stage of the project, technical and technical solutions are provided through technical exchanges and technical solutions, and the technical and technological routes of our group are implanted into these projects to allow the owners to accept us and make us in the predominance of future tenders.

The third stop for Mr. Hilling is Chile's capital Santiago, which is arranged by SWT CEO Chris C. We have carried out extensive contact with the chairman and CEO and others of the board of directors of a local professional water treatment company, and exchanges on projects to be invested by Chile in the next 3-5 years, such as seawater desalination, sewage treatment plants and mineral wastewater treatment plants. Since the company has offices in Chile, Peru and Columbia, a mature network system has been established in market development. How does the SafBon group develop the market and develop together with such partners? This is a challenging topic for management. We need everyone's advice to make our market solid.

A month ago, two water engineering experts from the AYA company of Costa Rico spent a week in SafBon, Shanghai, inspected its sewage treatment plants, sludge drying treatment plants, water plants and other projects. They spoke highly of SafBon’s construction ability, capability and management ability in the large engineering construction project.

How much knowledge you have about South America? Chile is about 4500 kilometers from north to south, and is close to the Pacific Ocean. The distance between the north and the south of Peru is 3254 kilometers, which is also close to the Pacific Ocean. The two countries add up to a magnificent coastline, plus Costa Rica, and hold a panoramic view of a long coastline in South America.


A Visit of Chinese Paper Industry Experts to KWI, Europe

Jan. 2018, SafBon invited several experts of China's papermaking industry to visit its European subsidiaries, including KWI France and KWI Austrian factories. During this visit, they were arranged to visit the paper mill of Kimberly Clark Corporation in NANCY. An MCH 80 type high efficiency air flotation equipment was installed in this factory in 2008. It was developed independently by KWI. As an equipment, which integrating advanced air flotation technologies, has a removal rate of 20-25% higher than that of KWI's competitors and covers only 1/5 of the traditional air floatation devices . This equipment has a processing capacity of 1000m3/h and its SS in effluent is less than 10mg/L. It is mainly used to treat the wastewater, which is called white water, in papermaking process.

The air flotation device has been used in Kimberly Clark, Nancy, France for over 20 years

The owner introduced that the equipment had been running stably with no spare parts damaged or replaced for over 20 years since it was put into operation. The SS in the treated white water can always meet the requirements of the ultra-clear white water standard. And it can be used as spray water in the papermaking process. With this recycle water, it is estimated that 3 to 3.5 tons of clean water will be saved per ton of paper. The air flotation surface sludge layer has a uniform thickness and the sludge concentration reaches 5%.

Kimberly Clark Corporation is a global leader in health care field. It has established plants in 35 countries around the world with an annual production value of US$18 billion. KWI mainly provides air floatation technology for such high-end customers in the paper industry to solve the problems of fiber recycling and wastewater treatment.

Through this visiting, everyone has a new understanding of KWI, the air flotation originator. This experience may make the experts recognize what can be called excellent air flotation technology when the air floatation market is mixed and increase their confidence when choosing KWI products in technical design.

The Successful Start-Up of Penglai Hazardous Waste Incineration Treatment Project

Penglai Hairun Chemical Solid Waste Treatment Co., Ltd. hazardous waste disposal center project, jointly funded by Safbon and Penglai Jiaxin Company with 60% shares held by Safbon.

The project is located in Beigou Town Industrial Park, Penglai. The construction include hazardous waste warehouses, refuse pits and feed systems, rotary kilns and secondary combustion chambers, waste heat boilers, flue gas treatment, sewage treatment and ancillary facilities. Incineration treatment of 9,900 tons/year of hazardous waste, transporting other types of hazardous waste 3,819 tons/year.

At the end of 2017, it received the Reply of Yantai Environmental Protection Bureau on Consenting Penglai Hairun Chemical Solid Waste Treatment Co., Ltd. to carry out the business activities and started the waste collection and transportation. At the end of Dec 2017, finished the preparation work before officially operation; Jan 18, 2018, the burning started.

The successful start-up of this project marks the first performance of Safbon harvested for the first time in the hazardous area after years of hard work. It has gradually established a team that manages all aspects of investment, design, construction and operation, the business has also formed a new profit growth point of Safbon.

KWI Only Focused on One Single Research for 70 Years

Senior executives of the Safbon water service continued their third stop on the New Year's survey, looking at the KWI factory in Klagenfurt, Austria. This is a distinctive subsidiary of the Safbon water service, which mainly produces twelve different types of air floatation device. A Successful Finalizing in the Investigation of ItN, Germany

The second destination of the New Year research team, led by Mr.Hilling Chang, chairman of Safbon Water, came to Saarbrucken, an ancient city on the banks of the Saar River in south-western Germany. Here they visited the SafBon subsidiary, ItN Nanovation AG, who is specialized in CFM (Ceramic Flat Membrane) technology.

Saarbrucken is a rare mid-range border city which is located on the Saar River in southwestern Germany. It is bordering France and only an hour's drive to Luxembourg. ItN company only one kilometer from the French border. Here you can enjoy the French cuisine, and appreciate the Gothic architecture. Historically, here is not only the battleground of the military, but also the coal, steel town. Thus, during the Second World War, this city was suffered heavily.

Karl Marx's Former Residence

During the journey, the group also visited Trier, where is the hometown of the great the communist Karl Marx. Trier is one of the oldest cities in Germany and was famous since Roman Empire period. It has a history of more than 2,000 years and breeds many historical celebrities. 2018 is the anniversary of Marx’s 200th birthday, his former residence will be renovated and permanently opened to the public.

A Working Meeting the Research Group Attended with the ItN International Technician

The research team first listened to the reports from teams in the Middle East, South Africa, Europe and North Africa and found that ItN's visibility and brand influence continued to increase through last year's marketing. As an innovative technology, the ItN nano-flat ceramic film (CFM) has been ranked as the first peer in the industry by the international authority, GWI. ItN will continue to invest more in R & D this year, in collaboration with the ItN team in China, work more closely in order to make progress in MBR, ultrafiltration, seawater desalination, WTP, HTF products and industrial wastewater treatment to meet market needs in various countries around the world. For example, the cooperation with the ItN team in China will contributes greatly in solving the problems that China is faced, including heavy metals pollution, nuclear radioactive elements pollution at some area, and the substandard water discharging in water treatment plants (WTPs) and wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). Nowadays, a virtuous circle that started to emerge in China when the process upgrading is required in the most WTPs and WWTPs and the new supervision of environmental protection in papermaking, steel and electric power industries is continuously increasing. Under such environment-oriented situation, some well-profited companies start to take the initiative to carry out environmental management. We believe that ItN's ceramic membrane has entered a new era and will play an important role in the next five-year plan of Safbon Group.

The MBBR Container


Before the research team leaving ItN, the General Manager Mr. Koch was delighted to tell them that a large ItN container was just transported from the factory on the same day. The container was transported though Eurasian railway and would arrive SafBon, Shanghai within ten days. This container is loaded with years of MBBR technology R & D results from ItN. As a major product from SafBon R & D technical team, this device will be installed in Liantang wastewater treatment plant in Qingpu district. Based on the research and development of ceramic membrane bioreactor (MBBR), we believe that the installation of this advanced technology in Shanghai will effectively push China to make new breakthroughs in wastewater treatment plant upgrading.

During the investigation, Chairman Zhang Chunlin learned that there have been two Chinese students who have worked for ItN German companies, and are particularly pleased. KWI Staff and the Device

During the visiting, KWI led SafBon headquarters team to a wastewater treatment plant of GALDERMA, a famous pharmaceutical giant. This is an EPC turnkey project which designed, constructed and commissioned by KWI France team. Denis, the general manager of KWI France, is quite proud of this project. It took only six months from starting to complete. Besides, it achieves the ultimate not only in ventilation and deodorization, sludge treatment, human-machine automatic control screen, but also in floor and outdoor temperature cooling devices. They used their core technology, DAF, as the core of the process, extending to engineering design and project general contracting. This is the successful business model belongs to KWI French company! And it is also a valuable technical service and extension. Denis told chairman Hilling Chang, they made quite huge profits with it! This model has been promoted to the abattoir, food, beverage and printing and dyeing, electroplating and cosmetics and other fields of wastewater treatment. As a small and nice core technology + service combination, this model is of great commercial significance! Successful Learning-Exchange Meeting about Construction and Installation

In order to against this background, the PPP project of ecological protection and comprehensive utilization of Tai’an Wen River Wetland is a win-win model of cooperation between government and social capital, jointly explored by Tai'an Cu Lai Mountain Wen River Scenic Area Management Committee and SafBon. The total investment by SafBon for this project is 1.28 billion. The main construction projects include river dredging, riverbank berm, ecological restoration, wetland park attractions and auxiliary facilities in the park. Giving this project to SafBon shows the trust and support from Tai’an city government! At the foot of the towering Mount Tai and next to the hometown of Confucius, building such a project that will benefit the people and the natural environment will have immeasurable value in upgrading the technical and management level of SafBon.

The meeting required the construction and installation project meetings to be institutionalized and standardized, and urged the project manager to come up with self-criticism, self-expression, self-innovation and self-improvement work style. The DAF Sludge Thickening Technology of KWI Appears in Dezhou Annual Meeting

On December 15, 2017, Mr. Hilling, the chairman of SafBon was invited to attend the 4th new sludge dewatering technology innovation seminar in Dezhou. During the meeting, he introduced the SafBon subsidiary KWI and its DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) products to the experts, and emphasized one of them was already put into pilot testing in a domestic project. In the pilot test, the device was proved has excellent performances in sludge thickening. This result successfully aroused the enthusiastic attention of the participants.

The technology was applied before the dehydration process, thus the operating load of the dehydrator can be reduced. Currently, the common limitation in sludge thickening process are the time-consuming, the large agent consumption, the low sludge concentration, the large footprint and the poor efficiency. For these problems, SafBon provides a series of integrated solutions for various conditions. The KWI DAF has following advantages:

1.The total footprint is 90% smaller than the traditional thickener;

2.sludge concentration is increased to 5~6%;

3.The agent consumption is reduced by 30%~50% compared with the traditional processes (In some occasion, there is no agent dosing requirement);

4.The retention time: 10~20 minutes normally

5.Low investment, simple operation etc.

The 2017 Operation Summary and Planning Conference was Successfully Held

On December 12, 2017, SafBon Water Service(Holding)Inc. held the operation summary and planning conference in Yuncheng, Shandong Province. Wang Xian, the CEO of SafBon, attended the conference, meeting the SafBon project managers from all over the country.

Yuncheng, Tianyuan sewage treatment plant is the first BOT (build-operate-transfer) project of our company, which is a breakthrough from 0 to 1. Thus, this conference was chosen to hold in Yuncheng, and encourages employees to achieve more impressive success.

A Successful Case of ItN CFM Application in Coal Mine Water Treatment Process

The unstable wastewater treatment processes and the consequent substandard effluent discharge are the long-term problems in coal mining industry. Since the stricter environmental policies are issued, the treated mine water is required to meet the requirement of Environmental Quality Standards for Surface Water (GB3838-2002).

SafBon has accumulated rich experiences in coal mine water treatment for many years. Now, SafBon introduces the world's advanced ItN nano-plate ceramic ultrafiltration membrane (CFM) technology into the existing mature pretreatment technologies, and applies them in the mine water treatment process upgrading and reconstruction projects. The CFM technology is mainly used for reducing COD, NH3-N and other heavy metal ions by removing the suspended solids (SS) and colloid in mine water. can be reduced. In results, the  effluent can stability meet the requirements of water quality Class III according to China’s Environmental quality standards for surface water.

The Integrated System of ItN CFM application in Mine Water Treatment

The excellent performances of ItN CFM in mine water treatment has attracted great attention from the experts of environmental protection bureau, design institute and university institute. The expert seminar of integrated equipment project for coal mine water treatment process renovations, which is  organized by the county environmental protection bureau of Shanxi, is held in August 11, 2017. In the seminar, dozens of environmental experts and leaders, who are from Shanxi provincial environmental protection department, Shanxi Luliang environmental protection department, Tongji University, Taiyuan municipal design institute, etc., agreed that the integrated CFM device had the various advantages, including high membrane flux, high effluent quality, high integration level, convenient operation, easy operation and maintenance, low costs and long service life. The experts also pointed out that the integrated CFM treatment device is a potential membrane treatment process and of great significance to improve the water quality of the treated coal mine water in the industry.
